Arda Guler misses out for Turkey as Portugal dominate from start to finish

Good afternoon and welcome to live coverage of the Group F match between Turkey and Portugal at Euro 2024.

Portugal boast an impressive record against Turkey - winning seven out of nine matches with Turkey winning two. And they continued that dominance in Dortmund, sweeping aside their opponents to book their place in the round of 16.

As teased by Turkey head coach Vincenzo Montella yesterday, Arda Guler was missing from Turkey's starting line-up. And his absence was keenly felt as Portugal took control of the game from the off.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring for Portugal in the 15th minute, heading home from a Joao Mario cross. And Portugal doubled their lead just before half-time, with Diogo Jota tapping in from close range after good work from Bernardo Silva.

Turkey offered little in response, and Portugal wrapped up the win in the 75th minute, with Bruno Fernandes scoring a stunning free-kick.

The win sees Portugal finish top of Group F, with Turkey finishing bottom. Portugal will now face the runners-up from Group E in the round of 16, while Turkey's Euro 2024 campaign is over.
